Hopefully chapter 1 will end up being a very small part of the book :-)&lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;re: SAIC: this week my wife and I are in San Diego to see relatives, but we spent most of yesterday with old friends from SAIC. I'm also a retired SAIC person and dabbled a bit with neural networks about the same time you worked on it.&lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;My comment on your book in progress is not to talk about Ruby as an introduction to the language, but more as programming constructs in Ruby that are usefull in AI.  The person coming to your book should be assumed to have sufficient knowledge of Ruby.
